The mission of the IAM is to foster and promote cultural and social interactions among the members of the Indian community and all those interested in Indian culture and heritage.
What are we looking for?
On Saturday, 5th October 2024, the Diwali Dussehra Mela in Manchester will bring together communities to celebrate the vibrant festivals of Diwali and Dussehra. The event is expected to attract a diverse crowd, with lively performances, cultural displays, food stalls, and much more. We're seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help us make this event a success by joining us as event stewards.
Volunteers will work in two shifts:
1. 12:30 – 17:00
2. 16:30 – 20:30
What would you be doing as a volunteer?
You will begin your shift with a briefing to ensure you are well-prepared for your role. As a volunteer steward, you will assist in maintaining a smooth flow of activities, providing directions to attendees, and helping ensure that the event is a safe and enjoyable experience for all. You'll work in pairs to support various event areas, including performance stages, food stalls, and activity zones.
Your role will involve:
– Supporting the event organisers in managing crowds, stewarding street performance, procession, and walkabout
– Guiding attendees and providing information about the event.
– Assisting with the setup or breakdown of stalls and performance areas.
– Ensuring health and safety guidelines are followed.
We value your support and will provide you with:
– Lunch and light refreshments during your shift.
– Reimbursement of travel expenses.
