Parent Group Leader

Who we are:

Empowering Parents Empowering Communities (EPEC) is a parenting programme for parents, by parents. We help families gain the skills to give their children the best start in life. The programme is designed to help support parents in raising confident, happy children and will look at how to develop communication skills, resilience and relationships. We need local parents to deliver these courses.  We train local parents in leading and facilitating groups that, in turn, support other parents.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who has experience of being a parent, is motivated and committed to volunteering! Taking part is entirely voluntary. We are looking for someone who would commit to our minimum time requirements of typically delivering 1 day a week (5 hours), over 10 weeks.

What would you be doing as a volunteer?

As a volunteer, you will:

  • Receive quality training and close support from the local EPEC team
  • Learn to lead practical, caring groups for local parents
  • Share tried and tested methods that help give children the best start in life
  • Build your confidence, develop your current skills, and learn new ones!
  • Make a real difference for local children and families so they can have the best possible start
  • Have access to a varied career development programme.

Training provided:

Parent Group Leaders would undergo quality training, providing the ability for parents to facilitate our groups/courses in their own communities successfully. You will receive full training, support and supervision to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to be confident in this role. This support will be ongoing from specialist EPEC Supervisors through regular supervision.

Benefits of volunteering with EPEC:

  • Making a difference to the lives of people in your community.
  • Support and guidance from project coordinator including 1-1 and group supervision.
  • Regular training and development opportunities.
  • Opportunity to improve future employment prospects.
  • Develop new skills; increased confidence and self-esteem.
  • Opportunity to build a portfolio of your training, skills, experience and qualities.
  • Being part of a team and becoming a part of Family Action, a national charity with more than 150 years of experience supporting families.
